Over the weekend, we had a chance to catch up with one of our T-Shirt Giveaway winners, Megan DeLuca. Megan is a Philadelphia area model with a passion for fitness and Philadelphia Eagles football.
She’s been following Joker Mag since the beginning and was one of our first loyal readers.
Let’s go In The Spotlight and learn more about one of our own.
First off, congratulations on winning the giveaway. How’s the shirt fit?
It fits really well and I love the logo. Your mascot is so cute! Dogs are my favorite animal.
What makes you such a fan of Joker Mag?
I’m really into Netflix, fitness, and football. And you guys cover it all. I love that I can find everything I’m interested in all in one place. I could be reading about one of your “Netflix Picks” and I’ll have a new movie/show to watch.
Then at the bottom I’ll see something about working out and I’ll read that article. It’s original stuff too, things that you really don’t see anywhere else.
So, how did you get started with modeling?
I won a contest with I Love Redheads which is an all redheads modeling group. They started reposting my pictures on social media and my following grew from there.
Photographers would message me and wanted to use me for their portfolio and that is how it all started.
You’re going a different route than many people your age and you’re already seeing some success. What are some of the ups and downs that you’ve experienced in building your own brand?
The toughest thing in my opinion is actually getting out there and working with new people. My first year modeling I only worked with about five photographers. I have pretty bad anxiety and meeting new people scared me.
I made my mom come to every shoot with me in the beginning. It’s also a lot harder to figure out who is a real photographer and not some creepy dude with a camera. I like to talk to other models that have worked with a photographer and get their input on their character and their work.
The best part about modeling is also meeting new people. I’ve been lucky enough to model with some of the most amazing people and had the chance to turn it into friendship!
Where do you see yourself at this time next year? And where do you hope to be in 5-10 years?
This time next year I hope to be signed to an agency. As of right now, I’m kind of doing my own thing. I don’t want to pursue an agency until I know I can give it all my time and effort. Currently, I’m working and modeling on the side.
In 5-10 years I hope to be modeling for big brands and companies. I would love to work with Sports Illustrated in the future.
Thank you for your time today and best of luck with everything you’ve got going on!
Thanks for having me. Keep up the great work!
