If you followed my picks last week, the chances are you made some easy cash! Week 4 saw my picks go a perfect 5 for 5! This week will be more of the same so climb aboard the train now so I can make you some money.
Here we go: my 5 under-the-radar picks for Week 5!
1.) Carson Wentz – QB, Philadelphia Eagles
Opponent: Minnesota Vikings
Last Week FPP: 24.7
Carson Wentz is coming off a brutal loss last week against a Tennessee Titans team that came back to them in overtime.
In Wentz’s second game back this season, the third-year passer went 33 for 50 with 348 yards and 2 touchdowns. This week, he gets a Minnesota Vikings defense got absolutely torched the last few weeks.
His salary at $5,800 makes him an extremely cheap play at the QB position that could pay off huge. Stacking Wentz with WR Alshon Jeffery, who made his return last week, will help generate big points.
2.) Aaron Jones – RB, Green Bay Packers
Opponent: Detroit Lions
Last Week FPP: 15.2
Aaron Jones saw more carries last week against the Buffalo Bills, rushing for 65 yards on 11 carries, adding in 1 reception for 17 yards.
Jones goes up against a Detroit Lions team who my pick last week, Ezekiel Elliott, had a field day against. Look for Aaron Jones to become the primary running back this week against the Lions as his salary at $4,300 makes him a low cost-high reward guy.
Aaron Jones will also be huge in the passing game this week as Aaron Rodgers will look to get him involved in any way against an abysmal Lions defense.
3.) Dede Westbrook – WR, Jacksonville Jaguars
Opponent: Kansas City Chiefs
Last Week FPP: 25.1
Dede Westbrook had an impressive game against a decent New York Jets defense last week, snagging 9 passes for 130 yards.
Westbrook has gone for over 50 yards in 3 of his 4 games this season, going over 80 yards in 2 of those games. He lines up against a Kansas City Chiefs defense that’s surrendering 328 yards per game through the air.
Westbrook is another low cost play at $4,700 that could pay off greatly. Look for him to prove why he should be the top receiver on the Jags.
4.) Zach Ertz – TE, Philadelphia Eagles
Opponent: Minnesota Vikings
Last Week FPP: 24.2
Zach Ertz caught 10 passes last week against the Tennessee Titans for 112 yards and is proving that he’s still one of the most reliable tight ends in the NFL.
Although Ertz has yet to find the end zone this season, he’s seen at least 10 targets each game and is averaging 82 yards per game receiving this season. He faces a struggling Minnesota Vikings defense — one that I already highlighted earlier.
Although the price tag is expensive, it comes with huge potential for big points at the tight end position. By stacking him with my other pick, QB Carson Wentz, you could be looking at big points in those Sunday contests.
5.) Sterling Shepard – WR, New York Giants
Opponent: Carolina Panthers
Last Week FPP: 25.7
Sterling Shepard had a breakout game last week against the New Orleans Saints where he caught 10 passes for 77 yards and 1 touchdown.
Shepard goes up against a Carolina defense that’s been decent all season. But with tight end Evan Engram still out, Shepard will see his share of targets go up more each week. The question with Shepard is if QB Eli Manning find the third-year receiver and let him make plays if fellow WR Odell Beckham Jr. is covered throughout the game.
At just $5,600, Shepard becomes a sneaky flex play with huge upside. Look for him to have a great game this week!
